Post-mortem Examination on Three victims Performed Today

Elizabeth Dena

Today at one p.m., a postmortem was performed on the charred bodies of Shadisha Arnold, Ana Carlos and Elizabeth McKoy. According to the families, only Arnold’s mother was informed of the date and time for the autopsy and the others were only told late this morning. But Belize Progressive Party representatives, Jose Espat and Elizabeth Dena, came out in solidarity with the families only to be removed by hospital authorities after a back and forth.

Elizabeth Dena, Removed from Hospital

“This whole place was supposed to be blocked off with people just to show support. Not casting blame on anybody or anything to say something tragic happened and we feel it. Because those are not just Ms. Audrey daughter, not just Ms. Carlos daughter, that’s not just Ms. Victoria’s daughter, because they are Belizeans, they are girls, they are our girls. So from that standpoint I am standing here so when these hospital people, I don’t want to call them infidels, take this approach to say that because I and Mr. Espat are hear and we are lending our support, that there is something wrong with that. No, I refuse to believe that we have stoop so low as a country, I refuse to believe it, this is our stance. So they came out here and told us again that we have to leave and I told Jose calm down and they can’t tell us to leave because we are here with this family and we are here to support them. So the only people that can ask us to not be here is the family and when they heard me say that they went in the room and then they called the family members one by one again and had a conversation and then another gentleman came and said that the family members don’t want you here. So I told them let the family members tell us to leave and I will respect that that because obviously you don’t understand the situation, this is death. So I am not going to go because you tell me to go so out of respect for their time and their moment if they say Ms. Elizabeth you guys can just wait I will do that for them but not because you tell me that. So I went and I moved, I kind of went around him and I went to Ms. Audrey first and they said if it’s going to make things better then just go. And the other started to cry and said miss I don’t know what all the fuss is about, now these people don’t have any heart?”
