3-day Training Commences for CRC Ambassadors

Lindbergh Smith

About fifteen ambassadors from across the country were shortlisted and then chosen to represent the NCFC across the country. Following the three-day training that ends this Friday, the new ambassadors will be sent back to their respective communities to address the many issues such as sexual abuse of children and human trafficking that recent reports show have become more prevalent. Information Education and Communication Coordinator Lindbergh Smith explains.

“We are hoping that this training will given them the foundation, a solid foundation to go out and properly represent without having any fear of not knowing what to say or how to respond to any questions being asked. The third step after this is an induction ceremony where they will be indoctrinated and at that time officially become CRC Ambassadors. There’s representation from all districts. The only area we don’t have a representative from today is Caye Caulker/San Pedro. But we have from as far as Colombia, the village in P.G. We have P.G., Independence, Dangriga, Belmopan, San Ignacio, Orange Walk and Corozal. This program includes the exact stuff that you are talking about. We will be having human trafficking presentations; we will be having presentations on child abuse, sexual abuse and how to go about reporting those cases. And so, I think that the mere fact that the knowledge will be out there and people who are constantly on the ground and educating children should have some kind of impact on minimize indeed. Whether it will stop it, we can’t say it will stop because it might never. But we can minimize the number of cases.”
