…Was It Retaliatory?

Octaviano Victorin

Prior to his murder, sixteen year old Ivan Choc was hit to the pelvis by a gunman about three weeks ago. He was shot near the cemetery in the village as he headed home on bicycle. David Cruz, who is the suspect in Choc’s shooting, is currently on remand at the Central Prison in Hattieville. After undergoing surgery at the Western Regional Hospital, Choc was released on November first and it is believed that his shooters wanted to silence him since he was able to identify his assailant. Police say that Choc is not known to police.

Insp. Octaviano Victorin, O.C., Roaring Creek Police

“Mister Choc is recently involved with an incident where he was shot and the person that shot him is presently in prison. Maybe it’s a retaliation of that same incident. Presently police have two persons detained for questioning.”

Duane Moody

“Sir when did this previous incident happen?”

Insp. Octaviano Victorin

“It is about three weeks ago, when Mister Choc was riding his bicycle heading from the Cemetery area to the Westar Gas Station and passing through that area, a person with a handgun fired several shots at him and Mister Choc was hit in the pelvic area. He was hospitalized and recently he was released from the hospital after undergoing surgery.”

Duane Moody

“Sir is Mister Choc known to the police as maybe a troublemaker for something like this to have happened to him?”

Insp. Octaviano Victorin

“To me, I cannot give that full information right now because I don’t have it at hand, but to my knowledge he is not a person that has been involved with the police for other incidents like this.”

Duane Moody

“Sir so any motive behind this murder?”

Insp. Octaviano Victorin

“Like I said, there was a shooting about a month ago, involving another fellow that was playing basketball. This same person was shot on his right leg whilst playing basketball. That was a Wednesday. The Friday, he was released from the hospital and that same person was the one who attacked Choc on the Saturday evening; who is the same one that shot him and he was arrested and charged and he went to jail. He is in jail presently.”

Two Roaring Creek residents are currently detained at the Belmopan Police Station in connection with the murder. They have since been charged for ammunition that was found in their possession.
