6-year-old in Need of Medical Assistance After Being Knocked Down in Ladyville

Six-year-old Kareema Encalada remains hospitalized at the Belize Medical Associates after being knocked down by a motorist in Ladyville a few weeks ago.  The incident occurred on October twenty-eight when the primary school student, along with her sister, was hit whilst returning home on Perez Road.  Since then Kareema has had to undergo several surgeries, racking up a bill that is at the moment being covered by the driver’s insurance policy.  The update tonight, however, is that she is need of another operation to be performed in the United States.  To do so, her family needs to raise a minimum of twenty-five thousand dollars to have Kareema airlifted to the hospital abroad.  Marla Encalada is turning to you for financial assistance and begins her plea by recounting the incident.

“My kids went to the shop across the field and on their way back home a vehicle ran over the two of them.  The little one is in a critical condition.  We rushed her to the emergency [ward] at the K.H.M.H. where she underwent surgery to the vaginal area that was properly torn up and messed up.  They sewed her from the outside and then they stitched the inside and she started to pass the stool through her vagina area.  We didn’t get good attention over at K.H.M.H. so we tried to let them transfer them to the Medical Associates on behalf of the insurance company.  The person that hit them, insurance is covering that for us.  And when we reached over at the Medical Associates we [got to] know that my baby had a serious, serious damage to the vagina area and they immediately took her into surgery because she was passing the stool through her vagina and that was causing the infection.  And they took her into surgery to get a colostomy bag on the left side and she’s still passing the stool through her vagina although the colostomy bag is on her.  She needs to undergo another surgery for Monday even though it was to have been done on Saturday which is tomorrow but the stool is still passing through the vagina area so they have to wait until they’re done clearing up all that stool from the vagina area so that they can take her to surgery for Monday morning.  She had a broken pelvis, she had head trauma.  She has a fractured left pelvis.  And it’s hard for me; I’m just pleading to the public to assist me in whatever way, to let them see if they can fly her out to the U.S. to get better attention over that side.”

Let the driver pay the complete bill, they drive like crazy just because they are in a vehicle. The vehicle is a weapon, it kills, especially when there is negligence.

  2. Carl Butler Jr says:

How much more money is raised already? How can the remainder if any can be donated? A established bank account?
