New P.U.P. Party Leader Will Choose Opposition Senators
Another decision that was taken at the Executive meeting of the People’s United Party is that as it relates to the senate, the status quo remains. The three senators who have made their mark representing the opposition are Lisa Shoman, Anthony Sylvestre and Patrick Andrews. The thinking at Independence Hall is that whoever emerges as party leader after next year’s national convention, should be given the opportunity to make new appointments. So this Friday, the senators will head to Belmopan for the inaugural sitting of the senate. In a related note, Mark Lizarraga was late this evening re-elected to return to the senate as the representative of the Belize Chamber of Commerce. Lizarraga handsomely beat Daniel Gutierrez of Belize Natural Energy Limited.
