…Third Party Urges Public to Have Area Representatives Pressure PM

Paco Smith

The B.P.P. is also calling on the public to lobby their area representatives to ensure that Belize signs the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.

Paco Smith, Chairman, B.P.P.

“Certainly the B.P.P. shall endeavor to continue to remind the powers that be that the convention is there. It should be signed; we see absolutely no reason why it should not be. Rest assured, on the anniversary which is the ninth of December, you will be hearing from us again—if not before—with regards to this issue. And the B.P.P. would also like to mention to the general public that well this is a manifestation of what you voted for. If you feel as though corruption is a serious, serious issue in this country, which I believe majority of people probably would, voice your opinion. Let your prime minister know. We purportedly live in a democracy; we saw the effects of that from the fourth of November. We had…not a change in government, but a change in administration. And basically the B.P.P. is calling on the general public to express your concerns to your duly elected representatives and let them know.”
