Armed Robbers Hold Up Vivian’s Coffee House in San Ignacio

A daring, armed robbery at a café in San Ignacio Town on Monday night has left a cashier and her co-worker short of cash and other valuables.  According to thirty-eight-year-old Marisol Milan, sometime before eight o’clock a male person with a shirt concealing his face entered Vivian’s Coffee House on Joseph Andrews Drive.  Shortly thereafter, another individual walked in and both men then proceeded to rob the premises, including eight hundred dollars from the cash register, as well as jewelry and other personal items.  This afternoon Deputy Officer Commanding the San Ignacio Police Formation, Inspector Reymundo Reyes, addressed the media.

“Yesterday, the ninth of November 2015, sometime around 7:45 p.m. the cashier for Vivian’s Coffee House located on Joseph Andrews Drive reported that whilst inside the establishment along with a next co-worker, they were accosted by two masked male persons of dark complexion, one armed with a firearm which appears to be a nine millimeter pistol and the other just made his way towards the cashier itself where he took the sum of eight hundred dollars in cash and the coworker was robbed of two gold rings and an Apple Ipad, all to a total of one thousand, five hundred dollars in value was stolen by these two individuals who made good their escape from the area. What we believe is that this is a crime of opportunity.  Three houses from this said establishment we have a Chinese store [that] is manned by a security guard who is also armed with a firearm.  So we could notice that persons or these persons who committed this crime were people who were actually monitoring the movements of one: the customers of the establishment whether they had customers or not.  Unfortunately, at the moment there were only two persons, the cashier and the coworker inside the establishment and two: it appears that the flow of people around the area was limited.  We barely had people walking around the area, so it was just an opportunity that these two persons took to rob the said establishment.”
