Man Freed 24 Years After Killing his Father

Leroy Arnold

A resident from Teakettle is free of the charge of murder after spending twenty-four years in jail for the killing of his father in 1991. Leroy Arnold was set freed today by Judge Adolph Lucas, ending more than two decades of imprisonment.  A number of factors led to his freedom. During a trial after the 1991 murder, Arnold began to display signs of psychological issues and a jury was empanelled to determine if he was fit to stand trial. The jury concluded that he was mentally unstable and therefore should not be tried so Arnold has been sitting behind bars all this time. Today on his return to court, his case was further complicated because his file could not be located.  Without his case file, and in fairness of justice, Judge Lucas discharged Arnold of the murder.  Arnold was born on April ninth, 1970 and at the age of twenty-one, he was charged with the murder of William Bill Arnold which occurred on September sixth, 1991 in the village of Teakettle. But tonight, all that is behind him.

This has to be considered a human rights violation. This is so messed up. What’s wrong with our judiciary? How could they allow this?

By the way, he was charged but never proven guilty. So the headline is wrong to suggest otherwise.
