Port Loyola Resident Loses Everything When Home Collapsed

Meanwhile, in Port Loyola, thirty-six year old Lisa Flowers was inside her sister’s room when her portion of the house fell into the flood waters. The wooden house on Fabers Road collapsed on Sunday morning during the heavy rains of the weekend. All her belongings and household items were completely damaged and she is now without a home. Today, News Five spoke with Flowers just outside the place she once called home.

Voice of: Lisa Flowers, Homeowner

“Yesterday morning while we were inside, we heard the other half of our house just fall. When we came outside, the place was on the ground as you can see. The house…dah wah old house and the water just came up and it just dropped off the post.”

Duane Moody

“Now, you said that you guys have been living there for some time now right?”

Voice of: Lisa Flowers

“Yes, back and forth because well I am a woman and I work and I do my own thing. I noh really go and ask people for help, but I deh by the street side and everybody could see that that mi deh long time to fall.”

Duane Moody

“How many persons were living in the house at the time?”

Voice of: Lisa Flowers

“Well it was me, my gentleman…I had my cousin, but like I tell you, he had passed. I have my other sisters but they live in the other half so it is only both of us right now.”

Duane Moody

“I understand that it went down with everything inside, so everything is damaged.”

Voice of: Lisa Flowers

“Well if you can look, most of the things are still in there. Well we move some into the other half, but as you can see that next one is not in a better condition than this one. But most of the things are still in this one, but we have a few things that are over there that have been saved.”

Duane Moody

“What are you guys going to do now because it is three sisters plus still living in that half that is actually small?”

Voice of: Lisa Flowers

“Yes as you can see. But like we say, God provides and we will do the best we can. If we get some assistance, we will appreciate it. there is nothing else that we can do; just hope that somebody helps us or we have to struggle it out on our own.”

For anyone who would like to assist the family, you can contact Flowers at 605-3417
