Bradley Is Confident…Says Voters Are Free Thinkers

Since general elections in 2008, Caribbean Shores has been a concentrated area for the U.D.P.  Notwithstanding its label as a red stronghold, Bradley says he is not taking for granted that voters will automatically cast ballots in his favor on the strength of his party.  He acknowledges that his constituents are, for the most part, free thinking voters.

“Your predecessors, namely: Carlos Perdomo and Santiago Castillo Junior have sort of paved the way in a sense for the constituency to either remain red or what have you.  In terms of the reception from those constituents who may be of a particular persuasion, in this case UDP, what has that been like?”

Darrell Bradley, U.D.P. Candidate, Caribbean Shores

Darrell Bradley

“It’s been very positive.  I get a sense that the area has been labeled UDP but the people are very independent, so that when we engage with people they have very real concerns.  I think that they were very pleased in relation to the work of the central government and the work of the city council but people are real in terms of raising concerns and wanting a leader that is responsive, somebody that they can have access to, somebody that they can trust and somebody that they can believe will deliver for them.  So that while I will say that the last two representatives in the area have been from the United Democratic Party I don’t take that for granted because the people are very independent in their thinking and they want somebody there who will deliver.  I don’t get the sense that people are red or blue.  I get the sense that they love their community and they will vote for a leader of character and somebody that they can believe in that is capable of delivering on core commitments like what I outlined, infrastructure, economic development, park improvement, sanitation and ensuring that their community is a place that is safe and enjoyable and good to live in.”
