Gang Member from El Salvador Nabbed in Belize

An ex-eighteen street gang member from El Salvador was nabbed in Belize two Sundays ago by Orange Walk Police. Twenty-three year old Carlos Enrique Alvarado Lopez is wanted by Interpol for a string of offenses including extortion and belonging to a criminal gang and has been living in Belize since 2013. But Alvarado Lopez was detained back on September twenty-seventh in that northern municipality because he was found intoxicated and acting disorderly. When Alvarado Lopez was unable to produce immigration documents, he was charged for illegal entry into Belize. But it was further inquiry by local authorities that revealed that Salvadoran national was also wanted by Interpol. Orange Walk Police say that Alvarado Lopez is currently at the Central Prison in Hattieville awaiting his expulsion to El Salvador.

“On Sunday the twenty-seventh September, 2015, Orange Walk police detained Carlos Enrique Alvarado Lopez, a Salvadoran unemployed of Staines Alley, Orange Walk Town for the offense of illegal entry. Further investigation by police revealed that Lopez was an ex-eighteen street gang member from El Salvador. Search done by Interpol shows that Lopez is wanted in El Salvador for the offenses of belonging to a criminal gang, extortion and other crimes in that country. Lopez has since been charged for the offense of Illegal Entry and an expulsion order has been issued. At this moment, he is at Hattieville [Prison] awaiting deportation.”
