Former P.U.P. Mayoral Candidate Defects

The U.D.P. sent out a release this morning which was followed by a response from the P.U.P.  The U.D.P. release announces that the former defeated mayoral candidate in Belmopan, Jose Chacon, had resigned the P.U.P. and crossed over to the U.D.P. Chacon’s statement in Spanish was attached to the U.D.P. release and followed by a television AD, in which he says that after consultations he was leaving the P.U.P.  Long and short of the statement is that nothing has changed in the P.U.P. so he was moving on. The P.U.P. Belmopan Executive countered that statement saying that while it regrets Chacon’s decision, it is a clear manifestation of the desperation of the U.D.P. area representative to infiltrate those in dire need of financial need. It ends saying, “While we hold no malice towards Jose Chacon for this mercenary act, we are reminded that the fate of political defectors is not easy: spurned and distrusted by their communities and in turn treated with disrespect, contempt and disdain by those to whom they pledge sudden loyalty.” For context, when Chacon ran for Mayor, he received one thousand six hundred and ninety-seven votes, while the current Belmopan mayor received three thousand one hundred and ninety votes. If you do the math Chacon was trounced by one thousand four hundred and ninety three votes, a margin of almost two to one.

To Whom It May Concern. It doesn’t concern anybody. You don’t want to be in a party or with a particular individual. Then go about your business. People who make this things public is just for one reason only you want something and sadly that is money. Unfortunately here in our beautiful jewel money makes us dance to what ever rhythm “they” play.

To Whom It May Concern. It doesn’t concern me. You sold yourself to the highest bidder…

    Mr. Chacon,
You hit the nail on the head, and the nail is driven into the coffin, slowly but surely. The Pup has indeed not changed!
Good luck for whatever you are trying to achieve.

It’s all about the money. Everything is for sale because in the end the only thing worth fighting for is your own life. In this new world order it is about survival of the richest. Who says otherwise is living in fantasy land. The people know. Power to the people, eh? Share the money and win the elections!

If this is the best the red beasts can muster, an inconsequential defection, then truly the tides have swung.
