Football, Basketball and Cycling Updates on Sports Monday

Good evening I am James Adderley and this is Sports Monday.

Yesterday’s PLB matchup between the Champions Verdes FC and Police United inside the Norman Broaster Stadium proved to be a nail biter as both teams tried to establish themselves as the team to beat. Orlando Jimenez uses this set piece to get the Police on the scoreboard with a squeeze but Benito Morriera reads the intent. Kafu Roaches then weaves his way through traffic to fire from point blank range and again goalkeeper Morriera is well planted. At the half neither team has done enough to impress the scoreboard. In the second half the action picks up, the Brazilian import handles this center to fire a half volley that isn’t too far off the mark. Verdes continues its hunt for the goal with this set piece launch from Deon McCauley. It doesn’t quite curl which allows Jamie Brook to come up with a comfortable save. Verdes is in the ascendency when Shamir Pacheco triggers this set in front of the goal forcing Jamie Brooks to wish hard for the save. Pacheco comes back to the hunt for goal this time the launch is too high. At the other end Darien Myers punches from outside the eighteen with the left foot only to see the shoot were outside the sticks. Super striker then fires this on the run close range bomb that converts itself into a high riser. Trevor Lennon looks to open the scoreboard for the Police with this grounder from atop the eighteen that just misses the target. Jarrett Davis comes up with a flash of brilliance on this individual effort but the left foot finish lets him down by inches. In the end neither team had done enough to deserve the win so they settle for a scoreless stalemate. In the only other math conducted over the weekend Placencia Assassins wounded Wagiya in a 5 – 2 blast at the Michael Ashcroft Saturday night. The advertised matchup between the BDF and Belmopan Bandits was postponed due to repairs being done inside the MCC Grounds.
