Accident Victim Desperately Needs Blood before K.H.M.H. Will Operate

Maria Dolores Castro

On September third, an elderly woman was struck by a motorist while walking along the Phillip Goldson Highway near mile two.  Maria Dolores Castro was severely injured during the accident, breaking both an arm and a leg as a result.  Since then she has been admitted to ward at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and is in dire need of assistance.  Doctors at the K.H.M.H. cannot perform surgery on Castro to repair her fractured limbs because she needs at least five pints of blood.  Despite an appeal from family and friends for a Good Samaritan to donate the fluid, there has been no such luck.  Today, Elvis Castillo visited our studio where he is making yet another humble request on behalf of his injured mother for public assistance.

“On the third of September, his mother was coming from work and was crossing the street when a motorcycle hit her causing severe injuries to her body, her foot and her arm were broken and she has a deep wound.  She has been hospitalized for two weeks but upon not getting the blood type that she has which is O Negative, she was released from the hospital without any surgery being done until we can get that blood then she will be readmitted back so that that surgery can be carried on.”

“Are you now appealing to the public to be able to lend some kind of assistance in terms of those with that particular blood type being able to donate blood?”

“Correct.  That’s exactly why we have come to Channel Five and we are so grateful for you allowing us to be on the evening news so that we can appeal to the general public, to those who are O Negative and can give blood, we are asking to please contact Elvis Castillo.  We really need this blood and God bless you all and thanks for listening to us and coming forth with that type of blood.  We need five pints of blood so that this can be carried on as soon as possible.”

There is no word as to whether the driver of the motorcycle that collided into Maria Castro has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
