Ricardo Dru Says Carnival Overload Will Be Mad

Aside from the many local artists, including Ernestine Carballo and TR Shine, who will be featured at tonight’s Carnival Overload Concert, Caribbean soca artist, Ricardo Dru, will also be a main element of the show. Dru, who is known for his popular song, Vagabond, will take the stage alongside Destra Garcia and Kes the Band for the fete. He too arrived in the Jewel today and came to News Five studios, where we found out more about him as an artists and what can be expected tonight.

“I’m very excited to be here; this is my first time in Belize and so I am definitely excited to be here and be a part of the festivities. What can be expected, will be just a different energy, a different vibe. I like to interact with the people differently than most. I like to have fun and having fun together and not necessarily me having fun on stage and they having fun in the crowd; they feed off of me and I feed off of them. So you can expect a lot of energy and you know I’ll be jumping around like a bunny rabbit. This would be my twelfth year in the industry professional. I’ve been trying to knock on the soca door for quite some time. I have been performing since I was about five years, but as I said, professionally, this is about my twelfth year in the industry. I’ve had the opportunity to work with people like Destra; I performed with a band in Trinidad called the Rolky Posters and you know I’ve worked with quite a few people; I’ve been mentored by quite a few so I can say I am fortunate enough to have big brothers and sisters who look out for me. Well people let me tell you something right now; you should come out because tonight is going be a good night man. We have great artists, we have myself, we have the Queen of Bacchanal, Destra Garcia, we have Kes and the Band. It is going to be just tons of fun, tons of energy and the artists that I know that’s on this cast, don’t settle for less. (Sings) And there’s so much more, you never know what to expect. So come on out and have a good time.”
