Additional High Schools Will Be Built Across the Country

Patrick Faber

Faber took some time to list all the areas which will benefit from the construction of pre-schools, primary schools and secondary schools…stretched out all across the country in answer to a growing demand for classrooms to house students.

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education

“Preschools will be established in twenty-two areas as I have explained…Valley of Peace, Buena Vista, Billy White, Duck Run, St. Margaret’s Village, San Pablo in Orange Walk, San Jose in Orange Walk, Douglas, San Juan in Orange Walk, San Antonio, Santa Cruz in Orange Walk, Trail Farm…Deputy you’re cleaning up…Cowpen, Caye Caulker, Belmopan, Bella Vista, San Ignacio, Santa Elena, Independence, Pomona, Punta Gorda, San Pedro Town, Corozal Town, Dangriga. All of these areas will receive pre-schools under this initiative. At the primary level Mr. Speaker, a new eight classroom building will be constructed in Trial Farm, Blackwater Creek…in San Pedro Town, and I make the point especially about San poedro Town Mr. Speaker because all residents of San Pedro will know that there is a serious problem on the island as it relates to finding space for students at the primary level. We have three schools…one on the South, the Adventist Primary School, we have the Roman Catholic one that Central San Pedro, and we have one in San Mateo just across the bridge that is the Anglican school, and all three of these schools are running over. Another primary school Mr. Speaker will be built in the Gungulung Area, and we’ll be in consultations with different managements to see what the possibilities are, but again this is something that we are very proud of in the Lake Independence Area. A school as well with this money will be built at the Kontiki Area in San Ignacio, in the Santa Cruz/Santa Elena Area…my colleague from Central of course is happy about that. And at the Secondary level Mr. Speaker a school in the Billy White/Duck run area in the Cayo District…a lot of these students have to come to Santa Elena or San Ignacio or Benque to go to school. We have a new school as well.”

According to Faber, high schools will also be built in the Carmelita/Tower Hill area, Pueblo Viejo in the Toledo District, rural Cayo, Pomona Valley, in San Pedro and in Hattieville.
