Third Drug Trafficking Conviction for Andrew Smith

A Western Pine resident, who had two unpaid drug trafficking bills, was escorted to court today on a third charge.  He is twenty-eight-year old Andrew Smith, a resident of the mile eight community located on the George Price Highway.   This morning, Smith picked up his third conviction when he appeared before Magistrate Deborah Rogers and pleaded guilty to one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug.   Magistrate Rogers imposed another fine and he was granted time to pay, but it was his old bills that came back to haunt him. Court records show that on January twenty-second, 2015, Smith was charged with drug trafficking and on April thirtieth, 2015, he was found guilty and ordered him to pay the mandatory fine of ten thousand dollars.  For his first conviction, Smith had paid only seven dollars towards the ten thousand dollar fine.  It was while he was out on bail for the first offense that he picked up another drug related charge for possession of a control drugs on April eighth, 2015; he was fined two hundred dollars which he was ordered to pay by May thirtieth, 2015 but he also failed to pay-up.  By the end of today, Smith was unable to pay the three fines and a warrant was issued for him to serve the fines in jail time of three years.
