Easy Glen Adolphus is Victim of Weekend Fire

Another wooden structure which was home to Glenford Adolphus, better known as Easy Glen, was gutted by fire on Friday night. Just before eleven o’clock that night, firefighters were called out to an area off Curl Thompson Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area of Belize City. The elevated wooden structure was completely engulfed in flames and but by the time firefighters managed to extinguish the inferno, everything was burnt to ashes. When News Five visited the area today, all that was left were the stilts on which the house once stood. Operations Officer of the National Fire Service, Benisford Matura, told the media more this afternoon.

“At approximately ten-fifty-three p.m. on Friday night; that’s the twenty-eighth of August, we received a call of a structure on fire on Curl Thompson Street in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. We arrived in the area but there was no fire; it was more up ahead off Curl Thompson Street. Upon arrival, we found a wooden structure approximately twenty by twenty-five about four feet off the ground, zinc roofing totally engulfed in flames. We got into operation and extinguished the fire and also a hotspot thereafter. Investigation revealed that the structure belonged to one Mister Belisle. It was occupied by one Mister Goldbrn Adolphus, better known as Easy Glen. The structure nor its contents were insured. The estimated loss according to Mister Adolphus, was approximately fifteen thousand. Our investigation revealed that this fire started from a faulty wiring to the wooden structure.”

“Sir when you say faulty wiring, does it mean that he was getting a drop; the structure itself was not electricity ready?”

Benisford Matura

“Yeah, the structure did not have a meter to it, so he was getting an illegal connection to it.”

Duane Moody

“Sir, I know this has been one of the fire department has been cautioning people about. Please stop with these illegal wiring because it can cause disasters like these.”

Benisford Matura

“Yes, it can cause disaster and it can cause big loss when you compare the little that you think you are saving. At the end of the day, for example, Mister Adolphus loss his entire house and content he lost.”

All in all, two families are left without roofs over their heads.
