Hattieville Resident Arraigned for Burglary; Did He Attempt to Rape Neighbor?

Robert Mejia

A Hattieville resident is out on bail after he was charged with the offense of Burglary with the intent to rape his thirty-five year old neighbour, whom he knew for years. Robert Mejia was arraigned today before newly appointed Magistrate, Deborah Rogers. The alleged incident occurred on June twenty-eighth, 2015. In court, Mejia pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate Rogers offered him bail in the sum of eight hundred dollars which he met this afternoon. The alleged victim told police that after arriving home from a night out in the village, she decided to take a bath in her outdoor bathroom. She reports that as she was returning inside her house with a towel wrapped around her, she felt someone pulling the door and even as she attempted to block Mejia, he gained entry into her house. A struggle ensued and Mejia reportedly pushed her down on the bed, but she managed to put him out of the house and began screaming his name. This caused him to flee from her house. Mejia is due back in Court on September thirtieth, 2015.
