Motorcycle Accident Leaves Cayo Resident Clinging to Life at K.H.M.H.

A seventeen year old is tonight fighting for his life at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was knocked off his motorcycle on the Bullet Tree Road on Monday.  Brendon Vallecillo of Santa Familia had to be hospitalized at the San Ignacio Hospital for a cut wound to his abdomen and severe head injuries. He was first taken to the San Ignacio Hospital and later transported to the K.H.M.H where he remains in a critical condition. According to police, Arnulfo Manzanero was driving a 1991 Toyota pickup truck from San Ignacio to Bullet Tree Village.  As he tried to pull off on the left side of the road at the entrance of the village, he was hit by a motorcycle causing damages to the front portion and passenger side of his vehicle. The motorcycle was also extensively damaged. News Five spoke today with Vallecillo’s father, Eugene, who says that while his son remains comatose, he is hoping for the best. He needs help to cover the medical bill that’s continues to mount.

“I noh mi deh but a friend came to me and tell me that they done hit my son. So I tell my wife make we go see what the happen. And when we came to the hospital in San Ignacio, dehn tell we that dehn will ker my son dah Belize. So I reach to the ambulance and get in the ambulance with my son and we bring my son right yah dah the hospital in Belize.”

“What are the doctors saying right now?”

 

Eugene Vallecillo

“Well the doctors saying that my son is in a coma. He will tell me more later, but the only thing he tell me is that he get a good knock ina his head and maybe tomorrow, he will come in life again because ih deh ina coma. But the only thing I want to tell to the bwai that hit my son that noh tell lie cause he is telling lie to the news, but that is not true what he say.”

“What do you understand happened?”

“I think he was going to his house and my son is coming with the motorcycle. But the friend that was coming with my son on the bicycle is saying the bwai hit my son. So I want to tell him that make please if he and all his family…if he could help me with my bwai because all of the money that I am spending right now I want to see if he could help me with my son.”

“What are the doctors saying with the prognosis? Is it bad? Does he have a fifty-fifty chance? Is he going to make it out alive?”

Eugene Vallecillo

“Well the doctor tell me that possible my son will live, but he noh guarantee that because he deh ina coma right now.”
