Thirsty Thursday’s DJ Chris Charged for Beating Up Ex Brother-in-law

Chris Rosado

Also this morning, businessman Chris Rosado, the owner of the popular Thirsty Thursday Restaurant and Bar located on Newtown Barracks, was found guilty of wounding his ex- brother-in-law, Sergio Quan. Rosado narrowly escaped jail time after Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith referred to Rosado’s actions as “vigilante justice.”  On November twenty-third, 2014, Rosado visited the home of Quan, who had reportedly beaten up Rosado’s sister, Chelsea.  He ran his vehicle into Quan’s fence, beat him up then threw him into the fence, causing severe injuries to Quan. In the trial, evidence also unfolded that Chelsea was assaulted by Quan at a restaurant and then at her house. Today, at the conclusion of his trial, Attorney Anthony Sylvester begged the court not to send Rosado to jail and to take into consideration that he acted emotionally because he was Chelsea’s guardian. The Chief Magistrate told Rosado that while she was inclined to send him to jail, he was saved because he is a first time offender. She was of the view that Rosado should have never taken justice into his hands and instead should have gone to the police and made a report. For the offense of wounding, she imposed a fine of two thousand dollars and an additional one thousand dollars to be paid to Quan as compensation.  Rosado still has another case pending before the court for the damages he allegedly caused to Quan’s fence. The Rosados say that they chose not to press charges against Quan because they were trying to settle the matter out of court since at the time of the incident; Chelsea was a minor at seventeen years old.
