Ghost Town Gang Truce in Effect

Chester Williams

For quite some time now, the Ghost Town Gang has been splintered and rival factions have been waging war against each other in an internal squabble that has seen significant carnage since the beginning of the year.  The blood feud on Mayflower Street has the Belize Police Department working overtime to find a suitable solution for the countless acts of violence that has gripped the neighborhood.  With the return of top cop Chester Williams to Belize City, a new approach is being taken in an effort to broker a truce between the young and the old.  On Friday, an intervention involving the opposing parties was staged, resulting in the handing over of a high caliber assault rifle to police.  According to Senior Superintendent Chester Williams, the peace treaty is not an overnight fix and will take several joint initiatives to bring the war-torn community together.

Sr. Supt. Chester Williams, Divisional Commander, Belize Police Dept.

“I met with the two groups from Mayflower [Street], as we all know that the situation in Mayflower is an internal issue within one gang, the Ghost Town Gang.  I met with them and their parents.  I also brought in two counselors, Mrs. Diane Finnegan and Mrs. Anne Palacio and I also have Mr. Douglas Hyde, who himself is a mediator and we discussed with them.  We had the parents speaking to them first, let the parents know exactly how they are feeling about the tension that exists in the Mayflower area.  After the session with the parents, I then had the counselors each having a session with them or a talk with them to try and see how best they could assist them in calming the situation that exists between them.  After the two counselors then Mr. Hyde spoke to them and I just basically gave a closing as it relates to what they three presenters have done or have said.  At the end of the meeting, I must say it was successful, they all agreed that they would put aside their personal issues and they would try to live together in that small community.  As I had said to them that whilst we may be able to police them going out of the area or others coming into the area and doing shootings it is difficult to contain them because they are in one congested area and they are fighting among themselves.  It’s like having a fight in a house then and you would not be able to know what is happening inside the house.  So while we have police officers on the periphery, inside was in issue.  So they agreed that as a part of that agreement they are handing over one AR15, brand new rifle and, I think, fifteen live rounds of ammunition for the same rifle.  So the police have that firearm now and it is not a one-day thing.  We know that it will require more than what has been done so we are planning to have a social event in the area probably this weekend, this Sunday with them.  We’ll do a barbecue and probably some games.  Again, to bring them more closer together.”

OK, SOUNDS PROMISING, BUT I WAS OF A DIFFERENT OPINION.
I THOUGHT OF INVITING ALL OF THEM GANGS AND MAKING TWO TEAMS.
SUPPLY ENOUGH HIGH CALIBER FIRE RIFLES WITH ENOUGH BULLETS/ AMMUNITION TO EACH TEAM. LET THEM GOT INTO THE MANGROVES AND LET THEM SETTLE THEIR BEEFS THERE. NO RETREAT AND NO SURRENDER IS THE RULES OF THIS LITTLE GAME.ONLY THE LAST MAN THAT SURVIVES WILL GET A FULL HONORS FUNERAL, AFTER HE BOLDLY SHOOTING HIMSELF AS CHEERS FOR HIS VICTORY.
PROBLEM SOLVED ! LET LIFE GOES ON !!!
WE NEED OUR PEACE AND SAFETY, PLEASE.

It seems that you’re better off being a Gang member than a Law abiding Citizen in Belize these days.
    1.you get to eat barbicue.
2.You get babysit by the top brass of the Police Department.
3.Last but not least you’re giving the privileged of deciding when you want to raise hell on the Law abiding Citizens.
