4 Men Charged for Heroin Get Bail

Four persons, including a Chinese national, who were busted in possession of over seven kilograms of heroin, were offered bail this evening by Supreme Court judge, Justice Denis Hanomansingh. Chinese national, Kua Liao, a naturalized Belizean businessman of Mile Eight located on the George Price Highway, was arrested along with Ebner Rivero of San Joaquin, Corozal and husband and wife, Fermin and Alva Velasquez of Ranchito Village. The four persons were charged jointly with the Possession of Heroin after they were busted last weekend in Corozal. Before granting bail to Liao, Justice Hanomansingh inquired what ties he has with Belize and Liao said he is a businessman who runs a Motel at Mile Eight and is the owner of a lime stone quarry.  With that established, the Judge granted bail in the sum of fifteen thousand dollars plus one surety or two sureties of seven thousand five hundred dollars.  The conditions to the bail are that they all must surrender their travelling documents, and report to a police station every Friday until the case is heard.  In the case of Liao, he was ordered to report to the Hattieville Police Station since he lives at Mile Eight on George Price Highway. Meanwhile, Rivera who is from San Joaquin along with the Velasquez couple are to all report to the Corozal Police Station since that’s the nearest police to their location. Liao met his bail late this evening while Rivera and the Velasquez’s had not.

That heroin will turn into molasses by time of the trial.
Was the heroin for Belizean consumption or to be exported?
Never heard of heroin use in Belize except tor Elvin Penners brother who overdosed and died but that was swept under the carpet by the minister and the news.

Okay. Who is the dumb #$%^&* judge in this case? Better yet, who got paid off? Does anyone even know the street value of heroin? I feel sorry for you Cruffy. The entire political and justice systems are so corrupt that you all are viewed on as idiots and illiterates. Depending upon the tie of the year, a kilo of heroin values anywhere between $100,000 -$150,000 US per kilo. Do the math. Where in this world is the bail set so low? Either you all are too dumb or someone got paid off. Does anyone think that this was going to stay in Belize? That bail money was probably sitting loosely in their homes if they were peddling that amount of drugs. SMH. Poor Belize.

Alva Velasquez is a female so title of story should have been 4 persons charged …a little oversight. Thanks! Channel 5 makes me proud to be Belizean!

Good thing they were not tourists with a stick of weed.
    Might not get bail.
