Policeman Still Hospitalized

Jason Hall

The officer was in his uniform when he was physically attacked and robbed of his vehicle. Hall has been working at precinct three of the Belize City police department for quite some time now. His mother says that while her son is in a stable condition, he is still not out of harm’s way.

Lydia Gilharry, Mother of Jason Hall

“He come to me like the fifteen, when he get the car. And I sit down in the car and tell him son, I don’t want nothing happen to you—it not even a week. I tell ahn son, I di advise yo all time, put God first. I tell ahn if yo see people di stop yo, noh pick them up because yon oh know who dah who. I tell ahn if dehn come noh ker nobody cause yon oh know if they set yo up and put drugs in yo vehicle and things like that. I tell ahn yo dah the police, yo dah the law; noh treat nobody bad. Just treat people good so dehn noh have to hate yo. I mi feel so bad that I just pray to God that nothing happen to ahn because this morning, ih come downstairs to look for ih gial and ih start to hemorrhage through ih nose; ih start to bleed through ih nose. All of them things…I just pray to god that make god stand by ih side and make ih stay strong.”

“The doctors are saying that he is out of danger; he is going to…”

Lydia Gilharry

“Yes, the doctors are saying that he is out of danger yes, but we don’t know because we don’t have wah doctor yah fi brains, to tend to your head so we noh know weh dehn ina ih brains. If dehn whap you with a gas tank in your head, your head could catch hemorrhage inside but you noh know because yo can’t cut yo brains open. Dehn noh have no specialist for that down here. So they still have to watch and see cause then yo head is a serious thing. Supposed he got hemorrhage inside, weh you think wah happen? Ih wah hemorrhage ih brains and dah right dehn ih wah dead. Maybe ih go sleep and next day morning ih noh wake up. So yo have to watch all kinda difficult things.”

Gillett also reportedly robbed PC Hall of his LG cell phone and a wallet containing four hundred dollars in cash and several identification cards.  In court, Gillett pleaded not guilty to the charge.  Prosecutor, Inspector Pablo Pikney objected to bail on the grounds that the accused had already escaped from the police. Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith upheld the objection and remanded Gillett into custody at the Belize Central Prison until August fourth, 2015.
