Mayor Bradley on His Political Opponent in Caribbean Shores

Kareem Musa

As standard bearer for the U.D.P. in the upcoming general elections, Darrell Bradley will be facing the P.U.P.’s Kareem Musa. Both by profession, are attorneys, live rather successful lives, and are well known personalities. By all accounts, both are going into the elections as strong and worthy opponent with good track records. Bradley once said he liked Kareem Musa, that sentiment was revisited today now that Musa is an opponent.

Darrell Bradley, Standard Bearer, Caribbean Shores

“The election is won based on work, based on character, based on integrity, based on principle and based on somebody who believes in what they are doing and I go out there and I work. So you can ask me anything you want to ask me, but I’ll tell you what Darrell Bradley and Darrell Bradley’s team is about and what we are doing and I guarantee you that the day after elections, you will have an opportunity to interview me because I am going to be the next representative for the Caribbean Shores area.”

“Now your opponent Mister Musa is like yourself a young attorney, a young professional and he has also made a name for himself. Once upon a time, not too long ago, you told me…I like him…”

Darrell Bradley

“I still.”

“…Like I’d vote for him. You said that long ago.”

Darrell Bradley

“Let me say this. Kareem is not an opponent. I like you yo know Jules because you use words to try to promote a division between among people. my opponent is poverty, my opponent is crime in the city, my opponent in poor infrastructure and I want to work with people who will attack those issues. I have worked on cases with Kareem Musa; I have a healthy respect for him; I have respect for any person who offers himself up for political office because it is a very difficult job and often times very thankless and sometimes when I go to my bed, I wonder why I would ever want to continue in office as mayor or aspiring for higher office. But I do it because I love my country and my family lives in Belize. The race is not between me and him; the race is between what can be done for the people of Caribbean Shores and it is the residents who are going to choose. At the end of the day, if the residents want to chose him above me, then that’s a choice I’ll have to respect. The idea that I think member of the media, who often times do a very good job, but you like to promote a certain thing that there is division or animosity.”

Reporter

“But it is P.U.P. versus U.D.P. sir; it’s the work-series of politics.”

Darrell Bradley

“It is not P.U.P. versus U.D.P.; it is development versus lack of development.”
