…And Deon McCauley Confident in Scoring Against the DR

Deon McCauley

Star striker Deon McCauley, however, is confident and says that he can guarantee at least one goal against the team from Dominican Republic. McCauley spoke about the chemistry with the players and his expectations.

Deon McCauley, Striker, Belize Jaguars

“It’s an away game so we have to take it with utmost importance because away goals do matter in these series as was with the Cayman series so we have to try and get as much away goals as we can so that we can come home and play a comfortable game in front of our home fans. I feel that that will be the most important thing for us. With every team they have players that connect with each other; that have that chemistry. I think that maybe in the first two games that they played against Cayman; maybe the players didn’t have that chemistry. With a forward player, you have to have good chemistry with the midfield players and I feel that maybe they didn’t have that then. But now the experience and the movement and everything that I bring to the team and the goal scoring and the finishing part of the game, I feel that that’s the part of the game that I bring that will be a big difference in these two games that we are going to play.  I think that I am game ready too. I think that my mindset and confidence that I have, with all of that, I am very ready. The only way to see for yourself the kind of fitness and dedication that I am putting in right now is to be at the game or be behind your TV when we play away. So that’s the only way to see it and if you are not there you are missing out.”

“I know most people don’t like to do it, but your predictions for the game?”

Deon McCauley

“Well I mean, every game is different. I like to start off with one goal and you never know what happens after that. once we get the first goal, anything can happen after that. I can end up with three, four goals in a game. It all depends. But I have confidence that I can score and I will score at least one goal…if not both of the series. So right now, my confidence is high and I am not letting back right now.”

On Sunday, Belize has a friendly match against a football team from Melchor, Guatemala in preparation for the international qualifying match against DR.
