Verdes Prepares for CONCACAF Champions League 2015

In more football news, Belize will be participating in the CONCACAF Champion’s League 2015 where Verdes F.C. has been drafted to Group C of the annual competition.  On Monday, twenty-four qualified teams, including the Premier League winners, were listed into eight groups.  The teams will play in a home and away series provided that our facility meets CONCACAF requirements.  In 2014, Belize was forced to forego its spot to another Central American team when the F.F.B. Stadium was deemed unsuitable to host Champions Leagues matches.  Executives from Verdes F.C. are back from Miami and according to Marvin Ottley, the team’s technical director, preparations are set to commence as early as Thursday.

“We were draw in Group C and we draw on top of the board so that’s a possibility that we might play at home first and we are grouped with Queretaro F.C. from Mexico and San Francisco F.C. from Panama.”

“Well on Sunday I had a chance to look at Queretaro F.C. in the finals against Santos in a game which they won but Santos have won the first game by a bigger goal score.  We have to gather as much tape as possible to make ourselves better prepared and we believe we have a chance to advance out of this first round so that will be the big job for us.”

Reporter

“Is the management excited about this opportunity sir?”

Marvin Ottley

“Well certainly.  I’m not sure if you all are blessed with the knowledge that Queretaro F.C. holds one of the world’s greatest ballers at this point in time which Ronaldino from Brazil.  So that definitely is a big thing for us, it’s very exciting to know that our boys are going to be on the field with a player as large as him.”

Reporter

“Do you think they will get star struck when they see him?”

Marvin Ottley

“Our level or preparation, we will prepare for that so I don’t think we will be placed in that position at all.”

Reporter

“So what’s next now sir?”

Marvin Ottley

“Well it’s all preparation from a management position and from a technical position.  So we get to work as early as tomorrow in regards to continue communicating with CONCACAF to ensure that we have everything in line to meet the dates that they have required in regards to all the paper works and those kinds of stuff.”
