B.D.F. Private Seriously Injured in Early Morning Collision

This morning, if you passed by the Los Lagos junction, you probably saw a B.D.F. Jeep lying on its side just off the road. That vehicle was in a collision at around six-thirty, and it flipped twice, seriously injuring the female B.D.F. private who was in the passenger seat. Preliminary investigations indicate that a factor in the collision was a rough patch of road immediately in front of the junction. The B.D.F. got the call through their emergency number at Price Barracks, and by the time they responded the female had been rushed to the K.H.M.H., her right hand mangled. Today, B.D.F. Chief of Staff, Lieutenant Colonel Asariel Loria, gave us an update.

“Apparently one of our vehicles, a Jeep J-eight series was driven by one of our private soldiers accompanied by another private soldier, was heading to Hattieville where we have some troops on exercise. They were transporting a hot meal to them, but by Boom junction they forgot something, so they decided to return to base. While on their way back the driver reported that they were trying to overtake a blue Mitsubishi L200 driven at the time by Mr. Santiago Perez. While he was trying to overtake that blue pickup the driver of the blue pickup reportedly swerved into his direction, so while he swerved because he was trying to avoid a little rough part right in front of Los Lagos, he collided into our vehicle, the Jeep. That caused the Jeep to go off the road. The driver lost control, and tried to bring the vehicle back onto the road where he collided again with the blue vehicle. At that time the driver of the Jeep lost control and flipped. Unfortunately there was an injury suffered by the passenger of the Jeep, the female private soldier who was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. She suffered injuries to her right arm. We have not verified, but that was the report we got from our Force medical officer that the soldier was…that they were contemplating amputating part of her arm, but up to this point we are not sure what has transpired as yet.”

The driver of the Jeep and the driver of the pickup were uninjured in the accident. The matter is now in the hands of the Ladyville Police who are investigating to determine who is at fault.

It could happen to anyone of us especially on these rough roads. That portion of the highway, from pass where El Ca’s Store used to be until you pass Los Lagos, is like driving on a big cheese grater.
