Arts camp opens in July

Story PictureIt’s that time of the year when many parents are wondering what they can do to keep their children focussed and out of trouble over the long summer holiday. That’s why summer camps are growing in popularity. The outings are a lot of fun especially when the young participants are encouraged to explore their creative talents. This year the Expressive Arts Summer Camp kicks off in July and children between the ages of nine and fourteen are invited to attend. Programme Director Leroy Green, of the Institute of Creative Arts, let us in on the details.

?This camp use to be away from the city, but this year we are changing it and expanding on the camp. The camp will be held at three locations: here at the Bliss Centre for the Performing Arts, the United Evergreen School in Belmopan, and the Banquitas House of Culture in Orange Walk. So from one hundred children, this year the camp has grown to three hundred children.?

The National Institute of Culture and History, NICH, will be providing all of the camp materials. The children are being asked to pay twenty-five dollars that will be used to purchase refreshments. The week-long camp will run in two sessions from July eleventh to fifteenth and July eighteenth to twenty-second.
