Post Mortem Results: Coleen Sharp was Shot Twice in Murder/Suicide

There are still more questions than answers about the murder-suicide that happened over the weekend. In our story on Monday night, we told you about the tragic incident which resulted in the loss of two lives; thirty-year old Colleen Sharp and fifty-four-year old Michael Estell. But, what was the motive? And who killed whom? That’s what everyone wants to know. Well, it seems the only people who knew the motive were the ones found dead inside the house. But, the other burning question was answered following the post mortem conducted on Monday afternoon. The post-mortem results showed that the couple died from traumatic shock due to gunshot injuries to the head. Sharp was shot twice, not once as originally reported. She was hit once to the right corner of the eyebrow and once to the upper part of the nose. Estell had a single gunshot wound once to the right temple. So, with this information, all indications are that Estell shot Sharp twice and then turned the gun on himself. According to reports, there appeared to have been a struggle inside the home, giving an indication that there was a fight between Estell and Sharp which escalated in the murder-suicide. The incident is believed to have happened sometime after midnight on Saturday. The couple was said to be out socializing that night and was last seen alive around ten p.m when they arrived at their home on the old airport road in Ladyville. The neighbors and proprietor of the bar located on the first floor of the residence didn’t hear any disturbance at the house. The couple was found lying dead inside their home on Sunday night after family and police visited the residence when they couldn’t reach them via phone. One licensed pistol was retrieved from the scene and another was found inside the home. Both families have indicated that they don’t wish to speak with the media right now, as they are grieving and making arrangements to bury their loved ones.

Again, as I previously commented when I first read this story, dumb P.O.–P.O. Quick to call this murder/suicide. How were these bodies positioned? You think with a neighbor right downstairs no one heard the resonating sound of a .380? I feel sorry for Belize.

  2. Oli says:

If there are more questions than answers, and the investigation is incomplete, then why do you insist on labeling it as a murder/suicide? I thought the truth and not speculation should be published.

  3. Please Stop says:

It is labeled as a murder suicide because everybody and they granny knows that mike was a vile abuser he beat every lady he had. He beat Colleen all the time cruffy have to stop play lost. And call a thing a thing.

  4. Forensic Files says:

The Police investigators theory is absurd!!!!! Has full investigations on that bar proprietor’s and other employee’s been done??? Please investigators stop being some lazy A**ss and do your job as professionals and make use of the evidence to solve this murder. Has keys from employees been confiscated to see if there is a match to go in the house?? From the way reported, its obvious that Estell was shot first then the culprit/s murdered his wife.

Please give the police and forensic investigators credit. Yes, some police do wrong and should be rightly punished. They are using evidence they found to help determined what happened since there was allegedly, no eye witnesses.

He arriving home first and her later (could be a sense of jealousy, but not exactly). The clump of hair (her hair, I am sure it was tested) and his gold chain on the floor, her smashed iPhone 6, friends indicating the relationship was stormy, the age difference (29 or 30 to 54), sometimes the older person can be controlling (but doesn’t have to be in this case), she was found on her back (perhaps, fell backwards after being shot), he found forward (perhaps, fell forward after shouting himself), no force entry and no sign of robbery are all evidences to draw a conclusion of what they believed happened.

All involved in the investigation process are doing their best to find answers with the evidences on hand. That is the best they can do unless or until someone (a witness) comes forward and say truthfully, otherwise.

Forensic investigators, can tell if shots were self-inflicted by the range, skin tissue under finger nails and scratches on the body can show a sign of fighting, etc. There are other factors to determine murder/suicide as well. So when they make the decision to claim murder/suicide there are many things that they consider and they are not just rushing to rushy judgment.

A very emotional loss for both families. Such selfish thoughts — a 10 year child, an orphan, and his seven other children fatherless.

May God help these families find peace in such an uprooted time in their lives.

Channel5Belize posed the question: who killed whom? Logic would dictate that since Sharp was shot twice, then Estell would be the killer, whom then turned the gun on himself. It would be improbable for Sharp to shoot herself at the right corner of the eyebrow and then the upper part of the nose, and then shoot Estell to the temple.

The other alternative: they were murdered.

  7. Sherlocke says:

As this incident remains a mystery, it would be interesting to find out why the police have not divulged what was on the video camera that Estell apparently had recording in the interior of his home, and why all Estell’s cash, jewelry, and other valuables are missing? Were the valuables removed during the two day Police lock down, probably as part of the investigation?
If Estell and Sharp were murdered, could it have been by someone they knew? Someone they would open their doors to who may have robbed them and planted false evidence? A house does not have to show any signs of forced entry for it to to be burgled.
People are more conniving and cunning than we think.
If this incident was a murder/suicide as concluded, then why are all of Estell’s and Sharp’s cash and jewelry apparently missing? Would the implication be that the police stole them?
It seems this case has not yet been solved.
