Weekend Shooting Leaves Nissane Usher Injured

Within minutes of the shooting on Curl Thompson Street and even as the scene was being processed, another team of officers responded to a shooting; this time at the corner of Banak Street and Magazine Road. At about seven-fifty p.m., eighteen-year-old Nissane Usher was shot to the left thigh. Usher and two others were standing on the sidewalk on Magazine Road when they were accosted by a gunman who fired several shots in their direction. Usher was the only one to be hit and was taken to the K.H.M.H. where he is currently admitted in a stable condition. According to Superintendent Romero, detectives are trying to locate one suspect that they have been able to identify.

Supt. Hilberto Romero, Head, CIB, Eastern Division

“We had another shooting where Nissane Usher, eighteen years was on Magazine Road and he received one gunshot wound to the left foot. We have one person that we are looking for, for that shooting and he has not been found.”

Hilberto Romero

Reporter

“Sir are you able to say of this spate of shootings on Friday night…are you able to say…we know the one on Jane Usher Boulevard, there are a lot of rival groups in that same geographic area fighting for control of turf. Are you able to say if these shooting or which of these shootings was gang related or related to gang rivalries?”

Supt. Hilberto Romero

“We have several persons that are involved in shootings in that area. We have the murder of this person; again we have not established clear motives regarding this murder. He had only been charged before for burglary; that is all that he had been charged for. And again, our detectives are out there working to try to establish a motive on what is causing these shootings. I know they have several areas: we have the Gill Street area, the Jane Usher area and we are working to establish motives for these shootings.”
