Audrey Matura-Shepherd Wants Union Senator, Ray Davis, Gone!

Senator Ray Davis, union representative, has come under sustained fire for abstaining to vote on the Petrocaribe Loans Bill. On April first, the N.T.U.C.B. met to discuss the controversial bill which was actually passed two days before that. Davis, who was a part of that meeting, was called up to explain his abstention which had become as controversial as the Bill. He was decidedly obscure when approached by the media after that meeting, but the N.T.U.C.B.’s Second Vice-President, Audrey Matura-Shepherd wasn’t. When asked for her thoughts today, she made it quite clear that she wants Davis gone.

“I will say for the record, I have said it in the meeting and I am prepared to say it publicly – I have called for the removal of Mr. Ray Davis as Senator. It’s not a choice that’s mine. There should be canvassing of all the different branches of the union because he represents not only one person or one sector but every sector. And I make that call because I believe that already on three occasions I have seen where his vote has not been in line with what the position of the N.T.U.C.B. has been. In relation to the recent Petrocaribe Loan Bill 2015, clearly previously he gave a remark that was in line with the union so I don’t know why he couldn’t go to the next step and do the right thing. That is my position and I stand by it as a professional, and I have said this to his face personally. I told him he needs to either resign or the entity needs to remove him. I have nothing to say behind his back or behind anyone’s back. It’s not personal. It’s just that the union is all of us and we stand for certain principles. Accountability and transparency is number one. And as such the Petrocaribe Loan Bill, no matter how you twist it or turn it, does not in any way show that there is an attempt at accountability or transparency. After the fact they are trying to sanction and confirm and validate that which is illegal.”

  1. Logic Over Stupidity says:

Has the executive of the NTUCB ever gone back to the general membership of the different unions and ask them for their position on national issues such as the Petrocaribe Loan bill??? Not that I can recall…so how can they say they are voting on behalf of the unions and its members???….Audrey like the spot light…she like seh “da fool di talk but da nuh fool the listen”…right back at you my dear.

Roy Davis did the right thing…why should he vote according to the wishes of the few executives of the NTUCB when the general membership of the unions have never been asked how is it that they want the executive to “vote”???

Audrey need fi stop she R@$$ and get her head out of the cloud…I guess she think she smarter than everybody else…..
