Penner, Still Popular in Cayo

Elvin Penner

And one final thing on the elections…. Last week, former U.D.P. Minister Elvin Penner was stoned with eggs by an angry crowd of P.U.P. supporters as he exited the Supreme Court in Belize City. He had to depart the scene in a hurry with some help from the police. On that day in Belize City, Penner was certainly not in his element, but on Wednesday night he was. News Five caught sight of him as he exited the counting station on the heels of the victory of Earl Trapp. Penner told us that he worked as a greeter that day, and he’s still very popular with the residents of Cayo Northeast.

Elvin Penner, Greeter in Municipal Election

“My main job was to be out here today to greet the people. I still know a lot of people. I got a lotta support out here today. I had to give Mister Trapp, the new mayor of San Ignacio, my support; he has always been there for me when I needed him—be it for campaigning, cleaning of streets or anything, he has always been by my side anytime I needed him. So I absolutely had to be there for him today.”

“Do you find that the residents or the constituents of Cayo North East are still receptive to you when you go encouraging them to vote for Mister Trapp?”

Elvin Penner

“Yes, I would have wanted you to be out there during the course of the day when we greeted people as they came in. it was a very positive atmosphere. Everybody that I know well and I have been with, in the past, they were very happy to see me there. In fact, they were very, very happy that I was out there.”

  1. CEO says:

It is sad to see that this crime against the Sate has become a PUP / UDP thing instead of the realizing seriousness of this crime.

For politicians to be able to commit these serious crimes and still have the nerve to show their face and then what’s even worse they still have the support of some citizens, these facts speaks volumes to how degenerated to state of affairs are in Belize.

    Sad really sad!
