PM Lashes Out At “Extremists”

Dean Barrow

For some time now, attorney Audrey Matura-Shepherd and Prime Minister Dean Barrow have been trading insults. On Thursday, Matura-Shepherd got in her shots, stating that she found it embarrassing as a junior attorney to have to school the senior attorneys on a basic point of law. To one one’s great surprise, the PM fired back today, referring to Matura as a junior grade, empty vessel attorney. He also scoffed openly at her representation of what he called the extremists, and not the real B.S.C.F.A.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow

“I don’t care if you’re just out of school. I don’t care how dense and thick-headed you are. You must know that if you have a practicing certificate that an application for judicial review is a two-stage process. You must know that there is just no way you can get a mandamus at the time you make an application for permission to apply for a mandamus. To have fooled farmers into thinking that the court will be approached one morning and by day’s end there would have been some order obliging the factory to open its doors has to mean that the person that peddled that kind of nonsense is either a fool or a knave.”

Clearly, this Prime Minister has very little to no respect for educated and intelligent women. While I do know much of Audrey Shepard. Based on my observation over the past 2 years or more it appears as if this ” junior attorney ” strong leadership style and ability to stay her grounds in the light of the PMs’ rhetoric and ill conceived use of words, has been remarkably brilliant.

Nevertheless, it appears as if there was lot of political fowl play and manipulation by this PM and his deputy against the B.S.C.F.A. in order to divide and conquer in the favor of ASR. Now, very sadly so he is sounding/pretending as if he is this great leader who is about to rescue the B.S.C.F.A. Clearly, this appears to be a political ploy.

What’s up with this Matura woman? She comes across to me as a jilted lover. With curse words flying. There is more to this than politics.

  3. David P says:

I can sympathize with Matura Shepard. It’s clear that she is a woman guided by her faith. To some that is a good thing but while it makes her seemingly strong, like a woman with “balls” bigger than any politician in Belize, it is also her biggest weakness in that it makes her zealous pursuit of justice for the downtrodden to come across as seemingly foolhardy and megalomaniacal.

  4. Ali BaBarrow lies! says:

“I don’t care if you’re just out of school. I don’t care how dense and thick-headed you are, as long as you can thieve with a straight face and have no conscience, you can work for me!

Who was Castro, Sedi, Hulse, Gappy, Erwin and the rest of the forty before they served me as most high jefe?

  5. Patriot says:

It should also be taken that if in Belize, the PM would not be above the law, he would not be passing judgement in this matter and would have the tail between his legs!
