Lino Arraigned for Attempted Murder

After five days under police guard at the K.H.M.H, twenty-two year old Carl Lino of Belize City, was taken to court in handcuffs this morning for arraignment on five criminal offenses. But when his case was called, before Chief Magistrate, Anne Marie Smith, he was a no show because it turned out that he had to be taken to the hospital for gunshot injuries. It was not until about eleven fifteen that Lino was finally escorted before the Chief Magistrate Anne Marie Smith. Unable to properly stand due to his injuries, the Chief Magistrate allowed him to sit through his arraignment.  He was read three indictable offenses for Attempted Murder upon Andrew Tate for a shooting incident which occurred on November twelfth, 2014, on North Front Street in Belize City.  He was additionally charged with Dangerous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm with the use of a Deadly Weapon. And Lino is also facing charges of Kept Firearm without a Gun License for allegedly having in his possession, a point thirty-eight revolver and ammunition but pleaded not guilty to the firearm offenses. Bail was denied and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until January twentieth, 2015. Last Wednesday, shots rang out on North Front Street near Pinks Alley, when police responded they saw Andrew Tate, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of the head.  They also intercepted Tate’s alleged gun man identified as Carl Lino, with a gunshot wound in the foot. Tate told police that he was riding his bicycle on North Front Street when Lino fired three shots in his direction, one of which caught him in the back of the head.  Lino then tried to flee but he was pursued by police who caught up with him through an alley in the area.
