Mark Flowers Goes In on the Media Once Again

Inspector Mark Flowers

And we end our coverage of GSU Head Mark Flowers tonight with a quite remarkable rant. We’re not sure what to make of it, to be honest. He attacks certain members of the media…then laments all the attention he gets…claiming that those media members are very likely obsessed with him. We figure we’ll let you listen for yourself without any more editorializing, lest we be accused of having an unhealthy obsession with the head of the GSU.

Inspector Mark Flowers, Head, Gang Suppression Unit

“I know that there are certain people who would rather see blood but I would hope that being responsible and being mature that we support this sort of initiative. I am talking about everybody not only the police and the media. I hope the media would join in become responsible at some point in time and join in the fight. And not all the media but those mischievous people who only seek to create mischief. Stop that foolishness, we have bigger things to do, let us work towards something positive. Not this kind of behaviour where we start to discredit and doubt people who want to make a difference. We want to encourage that. It is high time that we stop playing games and medal in things that only lead to mischief. I will not be a part of that. I have a bigger responsibility. I am a grown man I don’t want any man to be obsessed with me because I am not into that sort of game. So my advice to those people who have seemingly become so obsessed with either me or my name and I hope it’s not me, because I am not into those type of games.”

We note just for context that the Police have been muzzling their heads of departments across the Belize District when it comes to exposure to the media. But that doesn’t apply to Flowers.
