Owen Alexander Parham Convicted of Attempted Murder

Owen Alexander Parham

Thirty-seven year old Owen Alexander Parham, a vendor of the Cayo area was today convicted of one of five criminal offenses. Parham was facing a string of charges including attempted robbery, harm and aggravated assault upon Special Constable, James Stuart as well as resisting arrest.  Prosecutor in the case Inspector Hector Rodriguez called two witnesses to the stand including Constable Stuart. He testified of a near death ordeal at the hands of Parham saying that on October twelfth, 2013, he detected Parham hiding in a bushy area of Ladyville with a knapsack. The cop also testified that he identified items which he thought Parham would use to commit a crime and that he escorted Parham away from the area. He also told the court that Parham tried to rob him of his gun and that’s when the gun went off.  But Parham told the court he had gone to meet Stuart to conduct a drug sale of weed which he claimed he had gone to buy in Mexico.  According to Parham, Stuart asked to buy eighteen pounds of the weed at eight hundred dollars a pound, but that ultimately the cop could only afford to pay for nine pounds and had provided a deposit of one thousand five hundred dollars. They agreed to meet in Ladyville and that was when he was shot by Stuart. The magistrate found that there was no corroborating evidence brought before the court by Stuart and he found Parham guilty of only the charge of Resisting Arrest.
