Nasley Sommerville Hearing Postponed

Nasley Sommerville

On August fourteenth, after almost a year of so-called intense investigations, former Southern Regional Hospital Administrator Nasley Sommerville finally appeared before the Services Commission to determine her fate in the Public Service. Following an audit of that region by the Auditor-General, Sommerville is accused of using her authority to embezzle over three hundred and sixty-six thousand dollars from the hospital, and also of forgery in respect of that embezzlement. She was to appear before the Services Commission again this morning for the conclusion of the hearing, but the matter has been postponed. News Five has been reliably informed that the Ministry of Health has retained a private law firm to represent them for the remainder of the hearing, and that firm has asked for more time to review the files. So the matter of possible sanction from the Public Service has been delayed again, but Sommerville also has the threat of criminal action hanging over her head. News Five understands that the D.P.P. has instructed the Police to obtain further information from the banks in Dangriga. The Police Department has subsequently requested the intervention of the Financial Intelligence Unit to expedite the accessing of information from those banks.

  1. Ali BaBarrow, sez it all says:

The Ministry of Health, just another cesspool in the criminal nation of Belize.

    Go Ali, Go!

Finally! Why is this taking so long? From the time it could have been ascertained that she had taken ONE DOLLAR, she should have been arrested. I’ve been saying for months, this is a little farther up the food chain and she may talk. What happened to the other woman accused of the same thing in another section of the Ministry of Health? I guess she’s too close to Peter Allen
