Oscar Osorio, Mexican Musician

Oscar Osorio

“We’re gonna play a concert. We are going to show a bit of classic music and a bit of popular music.”

Duane Moody

“How long have you guys been playing individually and as a group?”

Miguel Garcia, Mexican Musician

“Individually, maybe they have about ten or a little more, but as an ensemble, we have two years playing together. This ensemble started as a high school, bands of Music, and it was a subject and after that we loved this music and we loved this format, and we decided to keep going with the ensemble out of school. With that, we did concerts in Merida and other cities.”

Duane Moody

“Is it really that difficult to play together as one?”

Oscar Osorio

“It is because of the ensemble and the organization…all this stuff is pretty hard, kinda hard.”

Duane Moody

“But you guys love what you do.”

Oscar Osorio

“Yeah we do.”

Duane Moody

“What is the Belizean people going to experience when they do come out tomorrow night and on Saturday. What do you want them to take away from your performance?”

Miguel Garcia

Miguel Garcia

“Well like Oscar said, we gonna play a little bit of classic music and we have one show of popular music. We have dansones, we have Belizean music…we are gonna play songs about this. We’re gonna play Mexican music, we have a lot of other rhythms and we are going to mix it up. So it’s an interesting show.”

The show starts on Friday at six-thirty p.m. and is free to the public. On Saturday, the group will also be performing at the Benque Viejo House of Culture as part of the celebration for the thirteenth anniversary of that cultural center. Also performing at that event will be the Benque Viejo Marching Band and the Benque Marimba Academy.
