San Pedro Caretaker Killed & Buried…

The lifeless body of fifty-six-year-old Santiago Trapp, a resident of San Pedro, was unearthed from a shallow grave this afternoon by law enforcement officers on Ambergris Caye.  On Sunday night, acting on information received, police responded to an arson in the Secreto del Mar area, approximately thirteen and a half miles north of San Pedro.  When they arrived, police observed the charred remains of a building owned by Moses Campos, believed to be used as a lookout post by fishermen in the area.  The scene was subsequently processed and upon conclusion confirmed that the structure was deliberately set on fire.  Campos, who was reportedly at the scene, was also inquiring about the missing caretaker.  Shortly after one o’clock, a team of officers and relatives of Trapp, conducted a search operation, resulting in the discovery of his corpse seventy-five feet away from the beachfront inside a shallow grave.  San Pedro police have detained four persons and statements have been taken based on circumstantial evidence.
