Court prosecutor, Joseph Nunez, gets bail

Joseph Nunez

A civilian court prosecutor spent twenty days behind bars, but luckily for him, he is out on bail tonight. Forty year old Joseph Nunez was imprisoned after he was found with a firearm loaded with fifteen live rounds of ammunition.  Nunez’s freedom came after Supreme Court Judge Herbert Lord granted him bail in the sum of six thousand dollars which he met by noon today. But while he is on bail, Nunez must report to the Queen Street Police Station every Friday until his case is disposed of.  He was also ordered not to interfere with any of the prosecution witnesses. Nunez ended up in prison after he intervened to stop a domestic squabble between friends of his. To prevent gun violence, he took away a licensed firearm from his friend and drove off on his motorcycle but he was stopped by the police, found with the firearm and ended up behind bars. Prosecutor Nunez is employed at the Belize Municipal Court in the court of Magistrate Adolph Lucas. When he was arrested back in June, it was hoped that the intervention of the office of the D.P.P. would have prevented him from going to prison but it did not happen and somehow, the story of the prosecutor and the story of the gun owner did not seen to be adding up.
