Mexican Theatre stages “Pequeña Batallas” in Belize

Our friends at the Mexican Embassy have organized a special treat for the Belizean public to enjoy a unique opportunity of quality theatre. At this time, the visiting Mexican theater company, Elenco, is performing at the Mexican Institute. The play is named “Pequeñas Batallas” which translates to “Small Battles’. It is written by Mexican playwright, Oscar Palacios, and performed by well-known actors Miguel García-Minaburo and Brayan Albor. This morning, Garcia-Minaburo and Albor sat on the couch of Open Your Eyes along with Cultural Attaché, Domingo Rodriquez, who told us about tonight’s performance.

Domingo Rodriguez, Cultural Attaché, Mexican Embassy

“The play talks about the relationship between a grandfather and his son, his difference, his conflict and everything. I think it’s a wonderful play for everything and its going to be today at the Institute of Mexico and tomorrow at the Orange Walk House of Culture Banquitas.”

“So it talks a little b it about generational gap…”

Domingo Rodriguez

“Yes the generation difference, the generation coincidence, the generation problematic about an old man about a young man.”

Pequeñas Batallas travels to Orange Walk on Saturday night for a performance at the Banquitas House of Culture.  Admission is free so head out to enjoy a good family show.  “Elenco” was founded in 1989 and has appeared in numerous theatres throughout Mexico as well as in Yucatan.
