Gutted body of young man found in sewer lagoon

Another body was found this afternoon. It is that of a young man who remains unidentified up to news time. The body was floating on the sewer lagoon off Faber’s Road and while partially decomposed, there were traces of blood on the bank of the creek which leads investigators to believe, that the young man was murdered. Late word to the newsroom is that the body was gutted from neck to belly and police are asking the public for assistance in confirming the identity of the murder victim. What can be confirmed is that the victim if of Creole descent, about five feet five inches in height with a tattoo D-Dog on the right shoulder. He had on a small silver watch, a black and green beads bracelet, blue jeans pants and a black and red Jordan tennis.  It is the second homicide in less than forty-eight hours in the south side Belize City where police have their hands full as a result of the unrelenting violence. Duane Moody was at the scene when the body was being retrieved.

Around two-thirty p.m., Precinct two of the Belize City Police Department was called out to the sewer lagoon off Fabers Road Extension by BWSL workers in the area. Inside the last pond in the lagoon was the partially nude decomposed body of a young man believed to be of creole descent. Officers and scenes of crime personnel were processing the scene and preliminary indications according to O.C., Superintendent Alford Grinage are that the unidentified person was murdered.

“About half an hour ago, we received a call that there was a body in the Dike, in the creek back here. Upon arrival, we observed the lifeless body of a male person floating in the Dike. That’s where we are at this time. At this time, we are awaiting for the doctor to come out here so that we can do a postmortem on site.”

“Is the body decomposed?”

 

Supt. Alford Grinage

“Well not fully but partially decomposed.”

 

Duane Moody

“Sir from your expert opinion so far as there any visible signs of foul play or anything like that on this body?”

 

Supt. Alford Grinage

“Well the distance that the body is in the dike right now it is hard to really see that at this time, but I observed signs of blood on the bank of the creek so we believe that there is some type of foul play with this noh.”

 

Reporter

“Could you tell us the ethnicity of the body?”

 

Supt. Alford Grinage

“Well I would not be able to say that at this time until we take the body out of the creek.”

“Now it is clothed? Is it a nude body?”

 

Supt. Alford Grinage

“Partially nude with a nike tennis on the foot.”

“Looks like a young person?”

 

Supt. Alford Grinage

“Yeah, it seems to be a young person.”

 

A post mortem examination will be conducted at the scene by Doctor Mario Estradabran to determine the cause of death. According to Supt Grinage, there has been no missing persons report in the jurisdiction and the identity has not been ascertained. Duane Moody for News Five.
